Berek - The Town of Garić
The Town of Garić was, according to the data, built upon the orders of the Banus Stjepan Šubić in the year of 1256. In the year 1295, Pauline fathers - a hermit order, came to Mount Garić, where they founded a monastery and built the Church of St. Mary. In the year 1544 the Turks captured and destroyed Garić and the monastery with the church. Ever since then, the Town of Garić has been a ruin, a witness of the history of these parts.
